The 2012 Democratic Party presidential primaries and caucuses were a series of electoral contests organized by the Democratic Party to select the unknown number of delegates to the Democratic National Convention held in Summer 2012 and determine the nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 U.S. presidential election. The elections took place within all fifty U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories and occurred between January and June 2012. The convention also approved the Party's platform and vice-presidential nominee.

The candidates who ran in the primaries were Stuart Hughes, Selina Meyer, and at least one other candidate.

In Summer 2012, the Democratic National Convention officially nominated Hughes for President and Meyer for Vice President.  On November 6, 2012, Hughes and Meyer won the Election against unknown opponents, and they were both sworn in on January 20, 2013.

Background Edit

What is known about politics before Hughes took office is that the Republican Party nominated someone in the 2004 U.S. presidential election, who would end up beating Democratic nominee Blake Stewart in a 49-state landslide. This candidate would go on to win re-election in the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

Primaries Edit

According to the first season of the show, Selina does very well in the New Hampshire primary (which she would end up losing when she runs again in 2016) and is seen as a rising star within the party. However, she does very poorly on Super Tuesday, on which she concedes. Hughes selects her to be his Vice President that Summer, before the Convention.
