The United States federal government shutdown of 2018 lasted from July 13, 2018 to August 6, 2018 when Representative Jonah Ryan of New Hampshire and other members of congresspeople known as the "Jeffersons" voted against a bill to raise the debt ceiling, leading to a major economic crisis. The major players of the shutdown are President Laura Montez, House Speaker Jim Marwood, House Minority Leader Roger Furlong, and the "Jeffersons".
